Colorado Springs May 17th Labor Walk

2008_0517_co_springs_walk_017_4 2008_0517_co_springs_walk_025

Saturday was another great day for Labor 2008.  In Colorado Springs, 67 union members and activists attended a labor breakfast. Senator Salazar, Congressman Perlmutter, and Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Udall stopped by to show their support for Labor 2008.

25 people walked for Labor 2008, which brings our statewide total to 112 walkers.  12 unions were represented: AFGE, AFL-CIO, DALF, IBT Local 17, IBEW Locals 111, 113, 68, 12, SMW Local 9, OPEIU, LIUNA Local 578, APWU, CSAL, CWA, and NATCA.

"These walks are important because members need to educate members. McCain is a veteran, but he doesn't support healthcare for veterans. Healthcare is the big issue here, it's what people identify with and what they need. We want to let them know it won't be available if McCain is elected. McCain says he cares for those who bare the burden, but the nation isn't right now, and McCain won't change that if he's elected."

Paul Doherty, President, AFGE Local 2430
