Jill Long Thompson: I can't win without Labor 2008!

Before attending the All Union Picnic in South Bend, Indiana's Gubernatorial Candidate, Jill Long Thompson, addresses Hoosier union members in this video message where she reiterates her commitment to defending Hoosier working families!

As part of that commitment, Jill promises to ensure that her first official act as governor will be to reinstate the collective bargaining rights for state employees that were stripped under the Daniels' administration.  She is committed to defending Indiana from Right-to-Work for less legislation, because she thinks "Right-to-Work is very hurtful because you cannot have a strong economy without a strong middle class, and you can't have a strong middle class, I believe, unless you have a strong organized labor movement."

As a union member herself, Gubernatorial Candidate Jill Long Thompson, knows how important it is for employees to have the freedom to form unions and collectively bargain for wages and benefits without intimidation from employers. That's why she is a strong supporter of the Employee Free Choice Act, 

"I am a strong supporter of the Employee Free Choice Act..I think its a god given right that if we want to join together with our fellow co-workers to negotiate for salaries, wages, and benefits that we should do that. I also think its important that our employers not put impediments in our way when employees choose to collectively bargain."

But in order for Jill Long Thompson to have the opportunity to make positive changes for Hoosier working families, she needs the strong support of union members from across the state,

All of the activities of Labor 2008- the member to member contact, the labor walks, the phone banks- all of those things are going to make the difference.
