Congressman Collin Peterson: A Friend to Labor
Congressman Collin Peterson, from Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District, continues to champion workers’ rights.
Collin Peterson’s record on: limiting outsourcing and free trade agreements (food stamps certification, NAFTA, CAFTA); renewable energy; and most importantly, the Employee Free Choice Act makes it clear whose side he is on.
Collin Peterson signed on to the Employee Free Choice Act before it was even written. This is because he has close relationships with Labor in his district. Peterson worked hard to pass the bill through the House – writing letters to forty three Democrats in support of the Employee Free Choice Act; personally calling Democrats weakest in support of the issue; as well as calling Republicans to discuss Employee Free Choice.
The Congressman’s Representative on Saturday at a Western Minnesota Area Labor Council Delegate Meeting praised the value of the relationship Mark Froemke West ALC’s President and Field Director as well as MN AFL-CIO President Ray Waldron. “It helps to have your face right in front of him” so that he can stay abreast of working families issues and fight hard for them.
Stay tuned for more on Collin Peterson.
